BEDROOM NOOK
If there’s one thing that this quarantine has shown us (apart from the obvious) is that there is always a little corner of the house that needs work.
When we renovated, we opened up this little space to create a nook that would work as a closet. However, since we moved in that it froze in that temporary phase that we all knew was never going to be that temporary to start with.
That being said, i felt like doing something different without having to spend a lot, so this was my humble attempt.
This is what we started with. Very bland, I know. And that clothing rack couldn’t get any more wobbly, I don’t even remember how it looked straight.
Anyhow, here’s the list of materials (a lot of these I already had at hand):
I chose two very different colours and tested them before the real deal, and i strongly advise you to do the same if you, like me, have a tendency to suck on the first try.
Since the plan was to only do stamps, these cute paint samples were the perfect amount.
Then on to the least fun part: lining everything with painters tape. I also used the tape to create vertical lines that i could follow while stamping and guides for the shelves as well. This helps to create a visual picture of what it will look like.
Next step was cutting the sponge in a half moon shape to use as the stamp.
After trying the pattern on the foamboards, it was pretty much stamping away until i covered the entire wall. An IMPORTANT detail: i watered down the paint so you could see the texture of the sponge better.
The colours I chose were Paris 1 and Sage 5 from Luxens. I ended up going with the darker colour to create more contrast in the room.
Meanwhile, we cut the wood boards to size using the angle finder and stained them.
Then clean up an put everything back where it was. I didn’t register the hanging of the clothing racks, sorry!
And finally, the final result!
